Book 65: The Book of Commentary

كِتَاب تَفْسِيرِ الْقُرْآنِ

Chapter 4

(4) Chapter. The Statement of Allah: "...And Yunus (Jonah) and Lut (Lot), and each one of them We preferred above Al-Alamin (mankind and jinn) (of their times)" (V.6:86)

4- بَابُ قَوْلِهِ: {وَيُونُسَ وَلُوطًا وَكُلاًّ فَضَّلْنَا عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ}:

English narration

Narrated by عبد الله بن العباس القرشي

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Nobody has the rights to say that I am better than Jonah bin Matta."

النص العربي

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكُمْ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : "

مَا يَنْبَغِي لِعَبْدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ : أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى

" .
