Bukhari · 2088أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَقَامَ سِلْعَةً وَهُوَ فِي السُّوقِ ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ ، لَقَدْ أَعْطَى بِهَا مَا لَمْ يُعْطِ لِيُوقِعَ فِيهَا رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَنَزَلَتْ : إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَA man displayed some goods in the market and swore by Allah that he had been offered so much for that, that which was not offered, and he said so, so as to cheat a Muslim. On that occasion the following Verse was reveale5 narratorsBukhari · 2675أَقَامَ رَجُلٌ سِلْعَتَهُ ، فَحَلَفَ بِاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَعْطَى بِهَا مَا لَمْ يُعْطِهَا ، فَنَزَلَتْ : إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلا سورة آل عمران آية 77A man displayed some goods in the market and took a false oath that he had been offered so much for them though he was not offered that amount Then the following Divine Verse was revealed-- "Verily! Yazid used to observe fasting on journeys. Abu Burda said to him, "I heard Abu Musa several times saying that Allah's Apostle said, 'When a slave falls6 narratorsBukhari · 4551أَنَّ رَجُلًا أَقَامَ سِلْعَةً فِي السُّوقِ فَحَلَفَ فِيهَا ، لَقَدْ أَعْطَى بِهَا مَا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ لِيُوقِعَ فِيهَا رَجُلًا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، فَنَزَلَتْ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ A man displayed some merchandise in the market and took an oath that he had been offered a certain price for it while in fact he had not, in order to cheat a man from the Muslims.
