Book 60: The Book of The Stories of The Prophets

كِتَاب أَحَادِيثِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ

Chapter 19

(19) Chapter. The Statement of Allah: “Verily, in Yasuf (Joseph) and his brethren there were Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelation, etc.) for those who ask." (V.12:7)

19- بَابُ قَوْلِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى: {لَقَدْ كَانَ فِي يُوسُفَ وَإِخْوَتِهِ آيَاتٌ لِلسَّائِلِينَ}:

English narration

Narrated by أبو هريرة الدوسي

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked, "Who is the most honorable amongst the people?" He replied, "The most Allah fearing." The people said, "We do not want to ask you about this." He said, "The most honorable person is Joseph, Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Prophet, the son of Allah's Khalil" The people said, 'We do not want to ask you about this." He said," Then you want to ask me about the origins of the Arabs? People are of various origins. The best in the prelslamic period are the best in Islam, provided they comprehend (the religious knowledge).

حَدَّثَنِي عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَكْرَمُ النَّاسِ ، قَالَ : "

أَتْقَاهُمْ لِلَّهِ ، قَالُوا : لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ ، قَالَ : فَأَكْرَمُ النَّاسِ يُوسُفُ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ ابْنُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ابْنِ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ ابْنِ خَلِيلِ اللَّهِ ، قَالُوا : لَيْسَ عَنْ هَذَا نَسْأَلُكَ ، قَالَ : فَعَنْ مَعَادِنِ الْعَرَبِ تَسْأَلُونِي النَّاسُ مَعَادِنُ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقُهُوا

" .
