Abu Dawud · 968لَا تَقُولُوا السَّلَامُ عَلَى اللَّهِ ، فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ السَّلَامُ ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا جَلَسَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلْيَقُلْ : التَّحِيَّاتُ لِلَّهِ وَالصَّلَوَاتُ وَالطَّيِّبَاتُ ، السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ وَرَAbd Allah bin Masud said: when we (prayed and) sat up during prayer along the Messenger of Allah (may peach be upon him), we said: “Peace be to Allah before it is supplicated for His servants; peace be to so and so. “The5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 969وَكَانَ يُعَلِّمُنَا كَلِمَاتٍ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ يُعَلِّمُنَاهُنَّ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُنَا التَّشَهُّدَ : اللَّهُمَّ أَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا ، وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا ، وَاهْدِنَا سُبُلَ السَّلَامِ ، وَنَجِّنَا مِنَ الظُّلNarrated Abdullah ibn Masud: We did not know what we should say when we sat during prayer. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was taught (by Allah). He then narrated the tradition to the same effect. Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and Allah’s mercy and His blessings. Ibn Umar said: 6 narratorsAbu Dawud · 972إِذَا صَلَّيْتُمْ فَأَقِيمُوا صُفُوفَكُمْ ، ثُمَّ لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا ، وَإِذَا قَرَأَ غَيْرِ الْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا الضَّالِّينَ سورة الفاتحة آية 7 ، فَقُولُوا : آمِينَ ، يُحِبُّNarrated Abu Musa al-Ashari: Hittan ibn Abdullah ar-Ruqashi said: Abu Musa al-Ashari led us in prayer. When he sat at the end of his prayer, one of the people said: Prayer has been established by virtue and purity.
