Abu Dawud · 5005إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُبْغِضُ الْبَلِيغَ مِنَ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِي يَتَخَلَّلُ بِلِسَانِهِ تَخَلُّلَ الْبَاقِرَةِ بِلِسَانِهَاNarrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-As: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah, the Exalted, hates the eloquent one among men who moves his tongue round (among his teeth), as cattle do.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 5006مَنْ تَعَلَّمَ صَرْفَ الْكَلَامِ لِيَسْبِيَ بِهِ قُلُوبَ الرِّجَالِ أَوِ النَّاسِ ، لَمْ يَقْبَلِ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ صَرْفًا وَلَا عَدْلًاNarrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ said: On the Day of resurrection Allah will not accept repentance or ransom from him who learns excellence of speech to captivate thereby the hearts of men, or of people.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 5007قَدِمَ رَجُلَانِ مِنَ الْمَشْرِقِ فَخَطَبَا فَعَجِبَ النَّاسُ يَعْنِي لِبَيَانِهِمَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ :Abdullah bin Umar said: When two men who came from the east made a speech and the people were charmed with their eloquence, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: In some eloquent speech there is magic.4 narratorsAbu Dawud · 5008لَوْ قَصَدَ فِي قَوْلِهِ لَكَانَ خَيْرًا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ أَوْ أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَتَجَوَّزَ فِي الْقَوْلِ ، فَإِنَّ الْجَوَازَ هُوَ خَيْرٌOne day when a man got up and spoke at length Amr ibn al-As said If he had been moderate in what he said: It would have been better for him.
