Abu Dawud · 4948إِنَّكُمْ تُدْعَوْنَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ بِأَسْمَائِكُمْ وَأَسْمَاءِ آبَائِكُمْ ، فَأَحْسِنُوا أَسْمَاءَكُمْNarrated Abud Darda: The Prophet ﷺ said: On the Day of Resurrection you will be called by your names and by your father's names, so give yourselves good names.6 narrators·parallel chainAbu Dawud · 4949أَحَبُّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللَّهِ تَعَالَى : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِIbn Umar reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Your names which are dearest to Allah are Abdullah and Abdur-Rahman.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4950تَسَمَّوْا بِأَسْمَاءِ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ، وَأَحَبُّ الْأَسْمَاءِ إِلَى اللَّهِ : عَبْدُ اللَّهِ ،وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَأَصْدَقُهَا : حَارِثٌ ، وَهَمَّامٌ ، وَأَقْبَحُهَا : حَرْبٌ ، وَمُرَّةُNarrated Abu Wahb al-Jushami: The Prophet ﷺ said: Call yourselves by the names of the Prophets. The names dearest to Allah are Abdullah and Abdur Rahman, the truest are Harith and Hammam, and the worst are Harb and Murra5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4951ذَهَبْتُ بِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ وُلِدَ ، وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي عَبَاءَةٍ يَهْنَأُ بَعِيرًا لَهُ ، قَالَ : هَلْ مَعَكَ تَAnas said; I took Abdullah bin Abi Talhah, when he was born, to the Prophet ﷺ, and the prophet ﷺ was wearing a wool;en cloak and rubbing tar on his camel.
