Abu Dawud · 4662إِنَّ ابْنِي هَذَا سَيِّدٌ ، وَإِنِّي أَرْجُو أَنْ يُصْلِحَ اللَّهُ بِهِ بَيْنَ فِئَتَيْنِ مِنْ أُمَّتِي ، وَقَالَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَمَّادٍ : وَلَعَلَّ اللَّهَ أَنْ يُصْلِحَ بِهِ بَيْنَ فِئَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ عَظِيمَNarrated Abu Bakrah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to al-Hasan ibn Ali. This son of mine is a Sayyid (chief), and I hope Allah may reconcile two parties of my community by means of him. Hammad's version has: And perhaps 11 narrators·parallel chainAbu Dawud · 4663مَا أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ تُدْرِكُهُ الْفِتْنَةُ ، إِلَّا أَنَا أَخَافُهَا عَلَيْهِ إِلَّا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : لَا تَضُرُّكَ الْفِتْنَةNarrated Hudhayfah: There is no one who will be overtaken by trial regarding whom I do not fear except Muhammad ibn Maslamah, for I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: Trial will not harm you.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4664دَخَلْنَا عَلَى حُذَيْفَةَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ رَجُلًا لَا تَضُرُّهُ الْفِتَنُ شَيْئًا ، قَالَ : فَخَرَجْنَا فَإِذَا فُسْطَاطٌ مَضْرُوبٌ ، فَدَخَلْنَا فَإِذَا فِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَسْلَمَةَ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنThalabah bin Dubaiah said: We entered upon Hudhaifah. He said: I know a man whom the trails will not harm. We came out and found that a tent was pitched. We entered and found in it Muhammad bin Maslamah. We asked him abo6 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4665حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ ، عَنْ ضُبَيْعَةَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ الثَّعْلَبِيِّ بِمَعْنَاهُ . The tradition mentioned above has also been transmitted by Dubaiah bin Husain al-Tha’labi through a different chain of narrators to the same effect.5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4666قُلْتُ لِعَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَخْبِرْنَا عَنْ مَسِيرِكَ هَذَا أَعَهْدٌ عَهِدَهُ إِلَيْكَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمْ رَأْيٌ رَأَيْتَهُ ؟ فَقَالَ : مَا عَهِدَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِQais bin Abbad said: I said to ‘All (Allah be pleased with him): Tell me about this march of yours. Is this an order that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ had given you, or is this your opinion that you have? He said: The Messen6 narratorsAbu Dawud · 4667تَمْرُقُ مَارِقَةٌ عِنْدَ فُرْقَةٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَقْتُلُهَا أَوْلَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ بِالْحَقِّAbu Saeed reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: In the event of the dissension among Muslims an emerging sect will emerge ; one of the two parties that is nearer to the truth will kill it.4 narrators
