Abu Dawud · 3181أَسْرِعُوا بِالْجَنَازَةِ ، فَإِنْ تَكُ صَالِحَةً فَخَيْرٌ تُقَدِّمُونَهَا إِلَيْهِ ، وَإِنْ تَكُ سِوَى ذَلِكَ ، فَشَرٌّ تَضَعُونَهُ عَنْ رِقَابِكُمْNarrated Abu Hurairah: The Prophet ﷺ as saying: Walk quickly with a funeral, for if the dead person was good it is a good condition to which you are sending him on, but it he was otherwise it is an evil of which you are 5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 3182لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنَا وَنَحْنُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَرْمُلُ رَمَلًاUyaynah ibn Abdur Rahman reported on the authority of his father that he attended the funeral of Uthman ibn Abul As. He said: We were walking slowly. Abu Bakrah then joined us and he raised his flog at us and said: You h5 narratorsAbu Dawud · 3183حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ،حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى يَعْنِي ابْنَ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ عُيَيْنَةَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَا فِي جَنUyaynah also reported the aforementioned tradition (No. 3176) through a different chain of transmitters. This version goes: We attended the funeral of Abdur Rahman ibn Samurah and he said: He (Abu Bakrah) made his mule r5 narrators·parallel chainAbu Dawud · 3184مَا دُونَ الْخَبَبِ إِنْ يَكُنْ خَيْرًا تَعَجَّلَ إِلَيْهِ ، وَإِنْ يَكُنْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ فَبُعْدًا لِأَهْلِ النَّارِ ، وَالْجَنَازَةُ مَتْبُوعَةٌ ، وَلَا تُتْبَعُ لَيْسَ مَعَهَا مَنْ تَقَدَّمَهَاNarrated Abdullah ibn Masud: We asked the Prophet ﷺ about walking with the funeral. He replied: Not running (but walking quickly). If he (the dead person) was good, send him to it quickly; if he was otherwise, keep away 5 narrators
